SuiteIdeas Issue: WIP Completion Bulk Processing with Partial Backorders
Issue Number: 341000
Issue Summary: When using WIP with backflush and bulk processing completions, components with partial available quantities are consumed without warning, potentially creating backorders. This issue seems to have received limited attention and can pose a significant risk, especially for high-volume operations.
Recommendation: Users employing WIP and bulk completion processing should exercise caution and be aware of this potential issue. It is recommended to:
Discontinue use of bulk processing: If your process allows, individual completions offer visual verification of quantities, avoiding backorders.
Monitor available quantities closely: Regularly check component stock levels to identify potential backorders before processing completions.
Review individual completions: Avoid relying solely on bulk processing and consider reviewing individual completions to catch discrepancies.
Example Pictured Below: Processing completion for 50 assemblies consumed only 20 units of the first component, leaving a backorder for 30 units. However, no warning was generated. A warning is generated if zero units are available for one of the components.
As of the time of writing no workaround solution has yet to be developed. I will update this post as more information is available.
